Students planning to go to college should complete their FAFSA as soon as possible if they have not already done so.  Colleges and Universities start awarding their scholarship money on December 1, 2021.

 

College Visits

 

An SIU Carbondale representative is planning to come to Harrisburg High School either in January or February.  The exact date has not been set at this time. 

 

Scholarships 

 

Heisman High School Scholarship - Applications are available in the Guidance Office.  Any senior who plays a sport and has good grades can apply. 

 

Going Merry Scholarships – Goingmerry.com has several different scholarships that students can apply for.  Each month the scholarships change.

 

Golden Apple Scholarship – Students interested in teaching can apply for this scholarship.  Information is available in the Guidance Office.

 

Gibson-Briscoe Charitable Trust Scholarship – Students planning to study music, drama, and the arts can apply for this scholarship.  Applications are available in the Guidance Office.  Applications are due by March 1, 2022.

 

CBAI (Community Bankers Association of Illinois) The CBAI Scholarship is being offered by Legence Bank of Eldorado.  The scholarship application is available in the Guidance Office.  The application is due at the bank by 3 p.m. Friday, February 18, 2022.

 

StudentScholarships.org – This website has several different scholarships that students can apply for.

 

Illinois Chemical Education Foundation – This scholarship is for students interested in becoming a High School Chemistry Teacher, Chemist, Chemical Engineer or Environmental Engineer.  Applications are available in the Guidance Office.  Applications have to be postmarked by March 5, 2022.

 

Hagan Scholarship – The Hagan Scholarship is a nationwide need-based merit scholarship designed to help rural students graduate college debt-free.  Applicants must have substantial financial need.  The scholarship provides up to $48,000 over four years to attend college and other benefits.  Information is available in the Guidance Office.

 

The JFK Library Foundation – The foundation is providing the Profile in Courage Essay Contest for high school students.  Students can win up to $10,000 in scholarships for college.  Information is available in the Guidance Office.  Deadline to apply is January 14, 2022. 

 

Arthur K. and Sylvia S. Lee Scholarship Foundation The Arthur K. and Sylvia S. Lee Scholarship Foundation hopes to leave a legacy of its funds to your community to honor Mr. and Mrs. Lee and to support your community where United Cities Gas Company and later Atmos Energy benefited and built strong relationships.  The Foundation proposes to provide education grants to worthy students to assist their attendance at local community colleges.

 

Mediacom World Class Scholars Scholarship Program – Mediacom will award several scholarships worth $1,000 a piece to help students pay for college.  Applications are available in the Guidance Office.  Deadline to apply is February 15, 2022

 

The Illinois Odd Fellow-Rebekah Scholarship

Illinois Odd Fellows is offering a scholarship for high school seniors.  Applications are available in the Guidance Office.  Deadline to apply is February 15, 2022.

 

The Baptist Foundation of Illinois Scholarships The Baptist Foundation of Illinois will be accepting scholarship applications for the 2022 – 2023 school year during the month of January.  Online applications are available from until January 31st.  For more information visit their Educational Scholarship page, call their office at (217) 391-3105 or email ken.steward@baptistfoundationil.org.

 

SIU Credit Union Scholarship – SIU Credit Union is pleased to announce that they are offering five $1,000 scholarships.  To obtain a scholarship application go to www.siucu.org/scholarship or stop by a local SIU Credit Union branch.

 

Marion Memorial Health Foundation – Marion Memorial Health Foundation is offering several $1,000 scholarships to graduating seniors who are planning a career in human health care.  Applications are available in the Guidance Office.  Applications are due in the Administrative Office at Heartland Regional Medical Center by February 18, 2022. 

 

Gallatin-Saline Retired Teachers Association Scholarship – A $500 scholarship will be awarded to a student from Gallatin or Saline County who plans to become a teacher.  Applications are available in the Guidance Office.  Applications must be postmarked by March 15th.
